This week we looked at anatomy of the human body and how we can learn to draw each section of the body based on knowledge of muscle groups, age, and gender, I’ not the best when it comes to drawing the human body so this one was a challenge.

I used a template provided in the lab to give me the heads and skeleton as I wanted to have the best chance with height and proportions as possible without messing it up myself, I started on the third stage where the sketch and skeleton are, I erased and deleted many times on this stage to try and get the best result possible but in the end I just stuck with what i had so as to not get stuck on one stage for too long, my character is an adult male so i spent time trying to get adult looking proportions.
My Character design is based on one I made called Luthier, who’s name means someone who fixes/creates instruments, he is the hero of the story who travels to a world that is based around musical instruments that has been taken over by a dictator called Death Note, the goal of the character is to fix the world and it’s instruments and also defeat the antagonist, that’s the rough synopsis as some context for the character, the design I have based on an early 20th century explorer, using a brown color swatch for most of the outfit, i did reference a couple of images for inspiration shown below.
My main inspiration is from the character Rick O’Connell played by my favorite actor Brendan Fraser in The Mummy.

The whole personality and style I would say is heavily influenced by this character, Rick is adventurous, witty and courageous which in my opinion are fundamental traits that make a good Hero, and i want to show these traits in my character when I develop them further, I would like to create some more outfit concepts drawing inspiration from this character.
The piano that Luthier carries is capable of traveling to new worlds and dimensions depending on what music sheet you play on it, so to get back home it’s important that it stays strapped to him at all times, I’ve tried to convey this through the chest strap on the character to show he has it around him. The goggles were partly a stylized choice but also serve a purpose as I try to follow the form follows function rule, the purpose they have is that they act as night vision goggles for dark levels and also to help the character see when they swim, they are also good for welding.
What I plan to do next is create some more designs for the character and see which one strikes me best as I’m not too much of a fan yet on the characters design, the color pallet I used is something that I still like. I also did look at some reference images of outfits fitting the period of the early 20th century explorers that looked pretty good.
